DescriptionBorn in 1948, Kate, the daughter of a consultant physician, always aspired to follow her father into medicine. Surrounded by art at home – both parents were amateur painters – she gained her artistic education through frequent gallery visits in London and Europe. After a long and varied medical career, she finally turned to the arts, finding photography best suited to her impatient, creative nature. Mentored by several well-known photographers, she developed from a ‘happy snapper’ into a professional, initially focusing on horses and water.Over the past 20 years, Kate’s work has evolved from traditional portraits to a diverse portfolio of realistic and abstract images. Travel continues to inspire her, with unusual subjects such as Greenland’s icebergs enriching her collection, while Venice remains her greatest muse.A client’s suggestion that her equine images would make beautiful scarves let to a collaboration with Beckford Silk.
